Welcome to the Our Lady of the Lake University Mary Francine Danis University Writing Center (MFDWC) Blog.
The MFD Writing Center is part of the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE), located on the 1st floor of the Library. Housed in the same space with the MFDWC are the Peer Tutoring and Math Centers.
The ACE serves as an academic resource hub for students, staff, faculty, and alumni. The professional and peer staff of the ACE work to provide quality educational assistance to help the OLLU Community grow as independent thinkers and scholars.
Our goal at the MFDWC is to encourage, help, and guide students, staff, faculty, and alumni through the development of their individual writing process. The MFD Writing Center is a judgement-free zone that exists to help individuals become better and mindful writers, thinkers, and communicators.
Writing is vital form of communication, and while it cannot really be mastered, it is a skill that can always be advanced through practice and determination.
There is no such thing as the perfect writer, and that is perfectly alright. We help people in our university community find a way to comfortably express themselves through the written word.
On our blog, you can find resources on formatting and writing tips. We publish book and film reviews every other Tuesday, as well as a great motivational column on Mondays. As we are a 6 person team, consultants will sometimes publish articles written about their thoughts or events that connect to how we function as writers.
Though our services are only available to the OLLU university community, we have many resources posted on here that anyone can use. We often create our own guides and handouts for formatting and writing tips. You are welcome to look at those, and if you find they could be useful to you, feel free to download them for your future use.
For members of the OLLU Community (students, staff, faculty, and alumni), our schedule of available hours can be found at https://ollusa.mywconline.com
